Easter Weekend

Destination: The Florida Keys

Campground: Kings Camp / Key Largo

Four-day work week, 31 days left of school, Friday is the start of Andy’s Kelly week, and we are ready for a break. We are tagging along with Andy’s Parent’s this week to celebrate Easter in the Keys. When we bought our camper a few months ago almost immediately Andy’s Mom and Dad bought one as well. They were ready to venture back out after being basically low profile for two years like the rest of the world. Covid took a lot out of us, but we weren’t going to let it stop us now. If anything, it impowered us to do more and see more. Life is too short!

We took the week prior getting the camper ready. This trip was different then the last. It is our first water trip in the camper. The Goggles are packed, Bristol’s new bike she got from a “Donation party” as she called it and mommy got some new swimsuits. Added on to the list of amazing things about this trip is Andy registered the Side-by-Side to be street legal. She is now our vehicle on trips! We are supped stoked to have a vehicle for the Summer and all other trips.

Its finally the day and we are loaded up and headed out. Two hours till our destination. Bristol decided to wear her pajamas down and dad got some sleep last night at the station. Turnpike south for three hours here we come!

We arrived in Key Largo, and it couldn’t be any more Beautiful. We get the camp set up and enjoy a truly popsicle. They were so delicious! We spent the first day down by the water in a little lagoon they have blocked off for swimming. Mimi and Papa brought a turtle to float on and BB was in heaven. Nighttime came and so did the rain. We were able to enjoy dinner, hamburgers on the grill, before it rained.  Bristol wanted to sleep in Mimi and Papa’s camper, so she did. The Easter bunny was coming the next day and BB was pumped.

The rain brought an amazing next day. The sun was more amazing than the day before and there was a slight breeze. After the Easter bunny dropped off Bristol’s Easter basket we ventured out on the side by side in the early morning. We visited shell world for gifts, Pilot house for a drink and then Ice Cream to top it off. When we got back to camp, we did much of the same as the day before.  In the latter half of the day, we went down by the end of the camp sites and enjoyed oysters right on the water. Nothing beats shucking oysters, drinking a cold drink, spending time with family and enjoying the day. The best part was Bristol throwing the oyster shells into the Ocean. She loved it! Unfortunately, Andy was shucking Oysters with no gloves and sliced his hand. Oops! no Hospital trip was needed though. That is our number one rule. NO TRIPS TO THE HOSPITAL! LoL.

We ended the day with some of our friends Chris & Cassie. They are both firefighters in Monroe County. Andy worked with Chris for most of his time down in the keys as a firefighter. They came over to the camp to visit and we ordered Sushi from our favorite place Num Thai. The food was as good as we remembered. We watched the Bristol Dirt race and got to witness the most colorful sunset. Florida Keys Sunsets are something of the magical world. It was the perfect way to end our trip to Kings Camp.
